I would say anywhere between 16-24/hr. Depending on where you work. Now, if you like hospittal work, and you're able to do a couple 12-16 hr shifts in a row, you may check into a hospital that offers a 'weekend warrior' type of deal, I hear you can avg 34/36 hr.

The 34/36 hr is without benefits. The ad I saw recently quoted 32 hr for PM shifts/12 hours. Pay is not the only issue to look at in WV. We do have a very low ratio of HIV patients, mandatory overtime is not permitted unless a emergency is called, Insurance rates are a little high. Remember, there are fine facilities in Huntington, Morgantown, Clarksburg, and Wheeling. Many nurses work over the border in neighboring states, make better money but come home to family several days a week. Columbus, Ohio, Parts of Virginia, and Winston-Salem, NC are not impossible drives even in winter. We are a rural state, somewhat of a closed culture, and have a slower pace of living. If this sounds interesting, look online for some more info on locations and facilities. Good luck.

If you can give us a specific area that may help quite a bit. The 16.00-24.00 dollars range seems right at least as far as base salary goes. Often you will make a bit more if you are in charge, with shift differential, etc.

That range seems okay. I am not sure what area to look in....just looking online and seeing the different towns. I know very little about WV. Thanks for your help!

Cabell Huntington Hospital and St Mary's Medical Center, both in Huntington WV, are both starting RN's at around 22.00 an hour, and they pay 100% of ALL benefits, health, dental, eye, etc... family and all. They are VERY competitive for the region, and both good places to work. Both have excellent services...
