I have lived in Atlanta all my life, and I have a lot family that has lived in Stockbridge and the surrounding area that entire time. Personally, I lived in Riverdale for 18 years, then Conyers for 10 years (right next door to Stockbridge!), so I know the Stockbridge area pretty well. It is Southeast of Atlanta, about 15-20 minutes from downtown. The schools in Henry County aren't the best in the state, but not the worst either. McDonough, which is still in Henry County, but further east of Stockbridge is a nicer area for families. Stockbridge is considered pretty rural to me, but has grown a lot in the last 20 years. The schools to the north of downtown Atlanta tend to have better reputations. But, the cost of living in Stockbridge is better than North of Atlanta. If that makes sense. :) I currently live North of Atlanta in Cumming, near Lake Lanier. I enjoy this side of town much better and find the schools rated better.

I hope this information helps - you can PM me if you wish to ask more specific questions. I have a cousin who sells Real Estate in Stockbridge, so she might be helpful in answering some of your questions.

Take care,

Lisa
