Welcome! Your thread was moved to our NCLEX forum.

Depends on your nursing board in your state. I live in Maryland. I took my test last Thursday and had my license number Friday evening. I didn't do the quick results because I knew that in Maryland the results went to the board immediately. I had over 200 questions as well. Good Luck!

The amount of time it will take will depend upon the processing time of the board that oversees LPN licensing for your state. Any time you exceed the minimum it means that your ability estimate was, at some point in the last 60 questions, too close to the pass/fail line to clearly determine whether you clearly passed or failed. The computer will keep asking you questions until you clearly have a pass/fail trend over the past 60 questions, you run out of time, or you reach the maximum number of questions.

From what I've seen, the PVT starts becoming reliable at around 24 hours and becomes more so after that unless there's a hold placed on your account. The huge risk with the PVT is that since the exam is scored twice, and the 2nd scoring is the definitive one and they don't tell us exactly when that second scoring takes place, if you get a "fail" result after the first scoring and a "pass" result at the 2nd scoring and you do the PVT between them, you will pay Pearson Vue $200 to reschedule to take an exam you won't ultimately need and there are no refunds.

The PVT is simply a way to unofficially find your result by taking advantage of a billing system that won't let you reschedule an exam if you've passed it. When the exam is scored, the system should pass along a "pass/fail" flag to the billing system. Barring a hold, a "fail" or no flag set (in the event the results haven't been passed on) will result in you being charged $200.

My simple advice is that if your state allows you to get the Quick Results for your exam, it would be worth your while to pay that meager fee and avoid putting $200 at risk for every PVT attempt.

If your state also participates in NurSys for LPNs, you might want to try that. My results on NurSys were available at the same time my RN license numbers were available online from the State.

Your other option is to not worry about it, you can't change the result, and if you have failed, you'll get a letter in the mail showing where your weaknesses are. Check your state database and/or NurSys once every day and leave it at at that. Some of my RN classmates had to wait 3-5 weeks before they officially heard about their NCLEX result and they did pass... so consider that before you go too nuts about your result. It is what it is and you can't change it.

Ok thnx...I live in VA

So I took it same day, in OAK, and a friend who did w me too received her results already and passed!!! Im wondering why I haven't still.. :/

It's possible that your BON knows your results but hasn't completed processing of your file. It's also possible that your results are on hold for some unknown reason and haven't been released yet. Aside from you and your friend taking the exam on the same day, time, and place, there are more variables in play that make it impossible for anyone not involved in exam grading or your file processing to determine why you do not have your results yet.
