Thanks..

I just wanted to say thank you to all who post on this forum. I interviewed for a school nurse position on Monday. (should know by today if I get the job). But at any rate, my experience included mostly Maternal-Child, some CCU, and Home Health for the last 3 years. I read through every post in this forum before interviewing and felt that the information I gained was invaluable. I was really nervous about interviewing, but whether or not I get the job, I feel like I at least was prepared for the interview, thanks to all of you and your resources. I'll post later when I hear about the job. Thanks again. :saint:

Well..(drum-roll......) YES I got the job!!! And it is at the high school in our town which is just outside my back door. (Seriously, I walk out my back door, through 2 parking lots and I'm in the high school.) Now I am sure I will be visiting this forum a lot to pick everyone's brains. I start on Wednesday...still really nervous, but I did sub some at the high school and have 2 kids in that school, so I know most of the teachers and staff. Here's to what I hope will be a new adventure. Thanks again, everyone.

I am so happy for you. I guarantee you are going to be amazed at how different it is from any other nursing role you have had. Check to see if your state organization runs a orientation or has a fall conference. http://www.nasn.org/Default.aspx?tabid=60 There is also a new book out that your school may be willing to buy as a reference for your office:

Selekman, J. (2006). School nursing: A comprehensive text. Philadelphia: F.A. Davis http://www.nasn.org/store/ or amazon.com

Good luck!!!
