Thank you.

Last night I got a call that one of my dear friends from church was being called to active duty and shipping on Thursday. This morning I went to church to witness his baptism and taking of the eucharist.

This is the second person that I know this is happening to. The first was from my nursing class and God only knows where he was shipped to. His family doesn't even know.

While in church I came to the realization that by going to nursing school, it is where I am supposed to be in life right now. The things that I am learning and will carry forward are things that the world needs right now.

As nurses, we have the history of always being there for the soldiers, and other people of the world. To heal both physically and spiritually the wounds that life has given to them.

I just want to say to all of you....thank you. Your job is a tough one, but also rewarded by the looks in those people's eyes that you have helped.

Thank you.

OUr chaplain was deployed suddenly this week. I now realize I took his smiling face for granted. It is so strange to go past his door and see it closed (he always had it open if he was there). Someone put a heart shaped Am. flag on the door. We miss him.

I'm sure that by the time all of this is over, we. as nurses, will see more than our share of the fallout. Life is so short and in just the blink of an eye....things change!

Those of us in and around military service are used to seeing such things all the time...now that the tempo is WAY stepped up, it's been really tense around us. I pray all the time for our future, not just the USA, but the WORLD.
