Texas Tech Accelerated BSN Program Spring 2017

Hello everyone! I currently submitted my application for my bachelor's in Nursing at Texas Tech in El Paso. I have a 4.0 GPA in my sciences, I got a 75 on my HESI, and I have no experience on medical field other than me having my CNA and my clinicals. It's really hard to get a job as CNA or volunteer hours in El Paso, in my opinion. I decided to post on here since there's not a post for Texas Tech BSN Spring 2017. Hopefully we can all let each other know when we get contacted for interviews and if we get accepted into the program and become friends:) Goodluck everyone!

Two to three more weeks  Is anyone else crazy antsy to know? Does anyone know if we will get an email even if we don't get an interview?

@Ckhrobison- any tips for those who do get an interview??

We will still receive an email if we don't get an interview.

Just out of curiosity.. is anyone applying elsewhere? Is tech your first choice? I ask because I have heard good and bad things about accelerated programs so I am curious to what y'all have heard, or if your applying anywhere else?

Wear professional clothing. Apparently this isn't common sense. ?!

Did y'all have to do an essay? We were asked the same questions we had to write about on the essay- What experience do you have that you feel will be beneficial in an accelerated degree plan (a lot is done on your own {in our program, anyway}). What experience do you have with independent learning?

And:

What support do you have to help you through an accelerated program?

What was our previous degree; what experience do we have?

Why are you choosing nursing?

What do you do when things get difficult?

things like that.

I personally got these:

- experience with online learning

- volunteer experience

- CNA/previous healthcare experience

- anything I wanted to share with them that I wanted them to know

- any questions I had for them

We had a 3 person panel interview. In the waiting room, there was a current student who would answer your questions as well.

We got our acceptance emails today!! I'm so excited!! I can't wait to hear when y'all get your interview emails!!

Wow congrats on getting in! That is awesome. Thank you so much for all of this information.. I really appreciate it and I am sure anyone that gets an interview will too!

I will add, I wrote out questions like these and similar ones I thought would be asked and thought of answers and practiced them in hopes I sounded more versed and didn't stumble over my words.

Also, make sure you always ask at least one question in any interview. :)

I got an interview invitation via email from Texas Tech today!!!
