Are there any entrance exams involved in being an RN? Or even to be an LPN? If so, how difficult are they and what are the most important things I need to study about? I'm most likely going to be taking anatomy and a second round of biology next year or maybe even the semester after this one. Are there any practice tests I can take? If so, where can I find them?

Any help would be great.

Entrance exams depends on the school, and they vary in material and level of difficulty. Some school's use the HESI, which can include math, english, grammar, vocab, critical thinking, chemistry, biology, A&P, an physics. However, each school decides which subjects are included in the exam for entrance with the HESI. Some only require math, grammar, vocab, and critical thinking. Others require every subject, or various ones in between.

Other schools require the TEAS, which also covers a range of topics. My LPN program I was in required the TEAS for admission. My RN program I am applying to requires the HESI.

Have you started on your pre-reqs or will you be starting this semester? I would advise looking into whichever school, or schools, you plan on applying to and seeing what exam they require you take for admission. Some schools don't have an entrance exam at all, and go just by GPA. Other schools go by GPA (whether pre-req, cumulative, or both), entrance essay, and work or volunteer experience amongst other things.

Each school also has different pre-reqs they require. The typical ones are college Algebra, Statistics, General Psychology and Developmental Psychology, Art and Humanity electives, A&P I & II, Microbiology, and English Comp I & II. Schools vary though, and some also require General Biology, Chemistry, and/or Sociology, and other possible classes as well. I would contact the schools you're interested in and speak with them about their entrance requirements.

It depends on the school. I'm in an LPN program and before acceptance we had to take the TEAS test, which a lot of people I took it with have failed once or twice. The test was over reading comprehension, english, math, and science. I think I am a modestly smart student with a 3.5 cumulative college GPA at the time and I got about 69 (we needed 64 to pass). Granted, I signed up to take the test the day before so I didn't have time to study at ALL.

For the RN program at my school (it's LPN to RN only) there's no entrance exam, just a current LPN license.
