testing in a different state

i've always been told it's okay to test in another state as long as you have applied for licensure for your own state. some other girls are going out of state also because we got sooner test dates, but nurses at work keep telling me that i can't do that. am i going to run into any problems here? did any of you test outside of your state?

I'd call or email PearsonVue and your BON, or look on their websites. I can't see how this would be a problem, since the test does not vary in content or difficulty from state to state.

It doesn't matter where you test as long as you have applied for licensure in the state you want to be licensed in. I live on the KY/TN boarder and many people here go to the Knoxville, TN testing center to test because it is a LOT closer than the nearest center in the state of KY, which is Lexington.

Yes, I tested out of state in order to get a quicker date. I called Pearsonvue, and they said as long as you applied for licensure in your own state, you can take it in any state without problems. It also says this somewhere on the candidate bulletin or pearson site, I can't remember which one, but I had called just to be sure. Good luck! :)

I just tested last week (and passed!! :balloons: ) in St. Louis even though I live in Illinois. It caused no problems whatsoever. Good luck to you!
