Test Taking & Studying Help

Published

I know this topic has been covered a zillion times on here, but I'm not coming up with a good search to find much.

I am a student in nursing school that's also working as a peer tutor. So, I've come looking for tips to share with other students to help them with studying and test taking.

I know:

prioritization: ABCs, Maslow

T/F with SATA questions

don't change your answer

Slow down and read the question

Mnemonics

Are there any other tips, websites, threads on AN, etc that can help me in this tutoring role? Anything that someone said/did that helped it "click" for you?

Thanks much! I appreciate your help!

EDIT: I just realized there's a board specifically geared toward these questions. Perhaps that's why I was coming up with nothing earlier. I'll keep looking, but I would still appreciate anything you got!

Something I just learned to do in RN school was to do NCLEX prep questions to prepare for exams. I use an app called NCLEX Mastery and take questions in the subject area our test will cover. This has helped me to be above passing level.

Also, our school offers online books and Elsevier/Evolve (the book publisher) offers a paid computer program called adaptive quizzing which helps test you on each chapter. I don't use it very much because it's not available on my mobile device, but other students swear by it.
