I just started in mental health this 8 wks and I failed the first test. The first test was all communication mostly. I have no clue what Im doing wrong. Theres only 4 tests this 8 wks and I am freaking out with my next test. I have studied over and over again for this next test and when I do practice quesitons I get them all wrong. Can anyone give advice.

The next test is over mental Meds, anxiety disorders, somatoform disorders, dissociative disorders, schizophrenia and depression.

I am a psych RN--not sure how to help--sorry you are having such a hard time.....can you remember what kinds of questions they have asked in the past? Maybe go and talk to the instructor........if you have more info maybe I/we can help you a bit better.

like any medical disease, review the causes, pathophysiology, signs and symptoms and treatments for these conditions. you can read about them on some of the websites listed here, particular emedicine and in the merck manual: https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/medical-disease-information-258109.html - medical disease information/treatment/procedures/test reference websites

links to websites that with information on therapeutic communication are listed on post #34 of this sticky thread: https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/health-assessment-resources-145091.html - health assessment resources, techniques, and forms. it is likely that questions on therapeutic communication will show up again.

i strongly urge that you make an appointment to meet with one of your instructors during office hours to discuss your last test and ask for guidance in how to study for this class and to best prepare for the next test.
