1st test grade :(

You will get a better response if you post this on the student forum. This forum is for nurses who have passed boards and are in their first year of working as a nurse.

Don't worry about it. Now you know what you need to do. What is your minimum needed to pass? (Our's was 80%). We used to say "Just Gotta Pass". And that's all you gotta do. Don't get me wrong, you are going to have to swallow hard, but try not to get too hung up on the grades. You WILL go nuts!

Hang in there LizzieB05, I had a "B" average for my first year and I dropped to a 73 average in my last semester of my two year program. I passed my program, passed my NCLEX with 124 questions, and now work as an RN in my local hospital. My clinical instructor told me that the students with the book smarts don't always make the good nurses, there is the hands-on side to this job, too. When you take your next test, remember the correct answers are the one's that deal with safety of the patients, and use therapeutic communication with them.

Hey lizzie, I am in my first semester also. These tests are sure different! I had a great "boost camp" before I started and they told us how to take the tests and it sure helped. Check out the websites for your books as they usually have test taking advice. The tests are all geared to help you pass boards as that is how the tests will be. Let's stick together! As far as the "C"...the good news is this... when you pass your boards and have your name tag on in the hospital it will say your name, RN and no one will EVER know what your GPA was!

I think now that you know what the tests are like, the next time you'll do better.
