over the weekend , we had a dr who is from the UK and is new here in the USA,,, the doc must of thought he was still in the UK because he wrote alot of tests we do here but have differnt names... he is a ID doctor and he has been here about 2 months.. the UC ( been a UC for 10 years), almost peed her pants , i had to call the lab and they had no idea what these tests were , and i called the doc .. and told him i have never heard of these tests and neither has the lab .. he said "i've written these orders in Ireland many times and had no problems" i explained to him that the lab couldn't even figure out what he wanted... it was the order from he!@!... it took me all day to call the lab and translate these orders... then we had to have codes to match the names of these tests... we showed the test names to another ID doctor .. and he said ... "those must be from the UK.. and laughed and walked away"... one doctor told us to call standford university to figure it out".. i asked a IMD doc what he thought it said and he said " yeah about $500.00 a test, thats what it says" ugh... i felt like i was in the twlight zone... good grief...
we have a pt who is alert and oriented who says he is a alien here on earth, ... he is a CPA and he says he is alien and he knows the 'men in black" that he is one of many aliens that walk the earth ....... well, that's how my weekend went... i thought aliens would be to advanced to go to a hospital... believe me after trying to figure out that order he could of called his friends in a space ship to come pick me up .... ugh..:banghead:
i want to apologize i advance to any aliens out there , this is the first time i ever spoke to a alien .. didn't mean to offend...

Just for you to know if the Dr. does not give orders correctly the insurance will not pay. That means he needs to order a BMP not a chem 7 for an example. And that is up to him, not you to translate, insurance will not pay for translation, only for 100% correctly ordered tests.
