Temple College Fall 2010 Nursing Program

Published

Hey Guys,

So I just took my Hesi test for Temple College Nursing School. I made a composite score of 87%, and I was wondering of anyone knows if that's a good enough score? I have taken all the pre-reqs besides micro, and I have a 3.64 GPA. I hate waiting till the end of May or the begining of June to find out it I was accepted into the program. If I dont get in this year, I need to go ahead and apply for the bachelors program somewhere. I have completed alot of the bachelor pre-reqs besides 8 classes. Im just trying to figure out of I should be taking some more of the bachelor pre-reqs during the summer!

If you got the score via email, an 87% is much higher than the average of the people who took the test at TC. I am in the same boat as you GPA/Hesi score wise. I keep hearing you can't get in if you don't have a least a 3.5. My only issue with that is someone who takes only 3 pre-regs will have a better GPA than me who has completed all the pre-reqs including Micro, Pharm, and A&P II.

I'm sure letters will be sent out soon!

Yes thats true, but you get wayyyy more points for how many co-reqs you have. if you only have the 3 its only 1 out of a possible 3 so you lose 2 points. I'm in a similar situation, too. I made a 93 on the HESI, have only 1 B and the rest are all A's, live in district, and am only missing Comp II and A&P II. I'm afraid it won't be good enough, but I am praying!!! Keep counting the days til the end of MAY!!!

Curious to know if any, or all of you got in? I am looking to apply next Spring. I have a few pre-req's 2 B's and an A. Taking a few co-req's this Fall, and the HESI. Wondering what it will take to get in?

Hey LoSe,

I did not get into the RN program this Fall. I had a 3.64 GPA, all of my pre-reqs and general education classes were finished besides Microbiology and I made an 87% for my composite score on the Hesi Test.

I called and asked the nursing department why I didnt get in and the reply was that I missed it by one point. She said had I lived in district I would of accumulated the point I needed to get in. It really sucks because I was hoping to get in, but just because I live in Round Rock I didn't get an extra free point. I am moving to Houston in January to go to nursing school.

I have talked to about 6 people who live out of district and none of them got into the program. One girl had a 3.75 GPA and a 92 composite score. I think that extra free point that you dont get if your out of district really kills you. If you live in district you have a good chance getting in with a good GPA and a good Hesi score. If you live out of district your chances are much less of getting in because you don't get the extra free point.

I have talked to many other nursing school in Texas, such as 3 schools in Houston, Corpus Christi, Victoria, and San Antonio, and they all say that the extra point is ridiculous if you live in district. So I'm disappointed in Temple, but hey that's just one persons opinion.

Wow, those are good scores and GPA's to not get in. I'm sorry about that. I thought I would be in the district since I actually live in Belton (next town over), and I work in Temple. But I learned this week applying for other pre-reqs that I am out of district. So I guess I will be in a similar situation. I guess the program is quite competative. I'll just study as hard as I can for the HESI in hopes I get the additional point for high scores, and try to get the rest of my pre-reqs with A's. Thanks for the response, though it is a little deflating.

Nah you are considered in district as far as the nursing program is concerned. Its pretty much the surrounding towns of temple, but you can double check with the ADN secretary. She told me Belton counted though! I made a 93 on the HESI, had a 3.95 GPA, but was missing A&P II and Comp II because I didn't take tech and bus writing. I checked my pts and only missed 1 pt out of 13 possible and it was for my HESI score! Take ALL the co-reqs you can this fall AND Spring (the Spring classes will count too!) and go to the EAC and do all the study guides for the HESI to brush up and you will be fine! Good luck!

oh and yes I made it in.....sorry i didn't add that

Cool, glad to know you got in. I wasn't sure what EAC was for study guides?
