Hi
I was hoping someone could tell me what exactly is telemetry and what kind of patients one would see on a telemetry unit. I recently got an externship on a telemetry unit so i was curious as to what it was. I had told the director of nursing that i was looking into cardiology so im assuming (hopefully correctly) that it has something to do with cardiac patients. Thanks in advance for the help!!

Congrats! Telemetry is a unit where patients are on cardiac monitor. If you want to prep, I advise you review the cardiology section of your medsurg book and also EKG/ECG interpretation. The library or Barnes and noble have books on ECG interpretation.
Thank you!!! This was really helpful..I definitely do have to brush up on my cardio stuff but I am really excited!

Congrats on your externship, I've read your post before saying you got it at Montefiore. Is it possible you could share the application process, deadlines, where to look, and who to talk with? It's 6 months later now, how was your experience btw?
