tele nurses

how many patients do you take care of on your tele unit??????

I work on a PCU/IMC step-down. All patients on tele. The ratio is 1:6 at most, if you are in the back you can have 1:4 but those are usually bariatric patients, so it really isn't a break.

We also have CNAs. I think they are 1:10 at most.

I left a stepdown cardiac tele floor about 1 1/2 yr ago due to staffing issues,...nights had 6-10:1 for RN's,..aides often had 15:1,...not safe,..the night I quit I was asked to take my 11pt at 1am while charging and precepting,.....there's no way you can safely take care of that many pts.
