TEAS test results

Published

Hello! I was wondering if anyone's know what nursing schools weigh more on admission, actual class grades or the TEAS results. I am asking because I got a C in chemistry back in High School (2004) However, I did really well on my TEAS test. I am nervous about applying since I just barely met the requirements with a C in chemistry... I am applying to Great Bay Community College in NH! Thanks!

Your community college counts grades from classes taken in high school? Was it an AP Chemistry class where you got college credit? Also, some schools don't count sciences taken over 5 years ago, so I would look into that.

Anyways, each nursing school really varies for what they weigh more. Some schools weigh your TEAS result the heaviest, some weigh your cummulitive GPA the heaviest. You really will just have to call your program and find out!

Good luck!

Each school is different. However, your class grades are probably too old to count. You will most likely have to retake those classes.

This is actually a good thing for you. I say that because a 'C' in Chemistry would almost definitely take you out of the running for acceptance (in California, anyway)

Most people that have a 'C' are crying and regretting it because they cannot retake it; You now have the opportunity to raise your GPA.

I even had a classmate that asked the professor to fail him, instead of giving him a 'C'....lol (the Professor did not comply)

A Failing grade means you can retake the course; however, a 'C' sticks for 5 years.

Thanks so much for the advice! I am currently retaking chemistry. I was stupid in High School and so I'm glad I'm able to retake it.. There is also a private school that I am going to apply to which doesnt mention anything other than GPA for requirements - which I have a 4.0 college GPA currently.

I'm going to call both schools and ask about the chemistry grade, since it is very old and I will have a better grade in chemistry soon!

Thank you both again!!
