Teas6

Published

Hello,

I took the teas6 on Friday which was the last day for students in my school to take it for the fall program which starts in 3 weeks. They said that we would get the results yesterday but they are still disabled by the instructor on the ATI website. I am having SEVERE anxiety because I do not think I did my best on the science portion but I am here to tell you a little about my (personal) experience of the teasVI exam.

-the reading portion was not too bad. It's about 3 long essays, a few short sentences where you had to summarize, draw a conclusion or find the topic sentence, a few graphs and a few advertisements. 53 or 56 questions(sorry im fried, lol) but it was pretty easy(to me). English is my strong point. (Might not be my strong point as I type this, sorry lol)

-mathematics- 36questions. A LOT of conversions(fractions to decimals), a lot of simplifying and a lot of word problems. It was not too bad and there is an on screen calculator and scrap paper provided. I personally did most of mines on scrap paper which I felt was easy for me. In my old college I'm not ashamed to say I failed mathematics 4 times but I've improved and I believe I passed this portion with flying Colors. I really want to be a nurse so I dedicate a lot to studying math, especially conversions.

Writing-23 questions and a lot of sentences that are improper. For example there will be four sentences (a,b,c,d) and only one is correct. You have to really read them over and over to make sure that you select the correct answer. It could be as simple as a comma in the wrong spot or the beginning of the sentence starting with a lowercase. Be careful.

SCIENCE- OMG lol. 56 questions. A LOT of anatomy and physiology. Dna, rna, mitosis/meosis, isotopes, organ systems(a lot on the digestive system) mitochondria, circulatory etc. I do not think I did my best on this portion because it was a few things I never seen in my life lol. I have sever anxiety and I wake up and it's the first thing on my mind. I had to guess about 3 questions. I'm really hoping I pass above a 68 in this section. :(

again, this is my personal experience. I suggest that you study from all sources you possible can I only used three sources which was my a&p notes, my ati book and the mometrix website(which is very good btw) Also take your pre requisites seriously, take notes and study study study because this stuff will be on your exam. I hope I pass. I have been trying to become a nurse for a long time but had to drop out of school for personal reasons (death of mother, my high risk pregnancy etc). I'm nervous but I am hoping for the best this time around.

Just to focus on your anxiety on the science portion. There are 6 pretest questions that do not count for or against you regardless if you answered correctly or not. So these pretest questions are possibly some of the questions that threw you for a loop. I felt similar as you about this section of the TEAS 6 while taking it but came out with a 72 point something (the programs I applied to required a science score of 45 and 50).

I'm so sorry that this is causing you so much anxiety when you could have just been given your results immediately at completion. Be kind to yourself; try to distract yourself from thinking about it. There is nothing that you can do now to change the results so just try to distance yourself from it for a while. Exercise, binge watch Netflix, read a non-academic book, cook a meal from a complex recipe, etc. Wish you the best.

Thank you, I am going to try not to focus too much on it right about now. I am wishing for the best. Hopefully the grades are up tomorrow but I'm just going to try my best to keep my mind elsewhere right about now lol.
