TEAS Study Guide

I think there is only one TEAS study guide, I mean, they come out with new editions all the time, but there still all the same, I would think.

The TEAS test to simply get INTO a nursing program?

It really isn't difficult, at all.

If you did fine in high school or in previous college classes you will be fine!

I'm about a B average student and I had no difficulty with the TEAS. Don't sweat the small stuff! As for a study guide, I'm not really sure.

IMO, I thought the TEAS was hard, however, I was very prepared from much studying from the guide. You need to look over the guide at least to give you an idea of what's covered on the test. I'm sure you'll do fine, but don't go in blind.

I'd recommend buying more than one study guide. They are not all the same. I used two and wished it was three!

If you have just finished your pre req's, bio/chem, etc.. you should do fine but prepare anyway.

Mine had a LOT Of hard science questions on it. Go figure.

What can you tell me about the test? What was it like? Does it cover one subject more than the other?

There's a McGraw-Hill Nursing Entrance Test Study Guide that's very good, that's what I used for mine recently. The science covers alot of the science section questions, but really.. alot of them just come out of nowhere and you either know it or you don't.. or you're a really good guesser.

Sections are English, Reading, Math, and Science. They give you individual scores plus a composite. The number of questions varies section to section. Like there were 55 for Math and 30 for Science, something like that. The grammar is pretty easy in my opinion, and the reading is straightforward for the most part. Math was a breeze with the hardest problems being dividing out fractions or performing simple algebra. Well, Math was always my strong point, so maybe I'm biased.

Anyway, good luck! I would allow a good few weeks solid study time for it, and try to relax and not study the night before the exam (it's usually early morning and lasts 4 hours).

Thanks! I already bought the TEAS study guide. I will try the McGraw-Hill in conjunction with that. I also plan on going to my college's learning center and getting some tutoring. It has been awhile since I have taken math. I am not too great in Science, but I feel confident in Reading and English. Any other advice on how to prepare, I would greatly appreciate it.

If you need help with Math, I suggest you do ALOT of practice questions in this subject. I know the McGraw-Hill book had alot of practice questions to work on, and http://www.testprepreview.com/teas_practice.htm has a TON of practice math questions. I did pretty much all of them before I took the exam and scored 100% on that section. Really helps to practice, practice, practice! Brush up on commonly misspelled words and grammar rules. I found some practice vocabulary sites like http://www.studystack.com/flashcard-242760 that I tested my vocab knowledge on, but I felt the vocabulary wasn't really too difficult. I heard the TEAS prep book prepares you best for the type of Reading Comprehension questions that will be asked, so practice those for sure cause I found some of them to be tricky. Best of luck!
