Has anyone here taken the TEAS and not been good at math but still passed? And is the math on it hard?? I'm going to have to take it really soon and only get one shot, math is not my best subject! and im nervous!! Any help would be appreciated. I was told they would provide me with a study guide..but its still not very long(not even a week!) before the actual test date!! Also, im sure its different everywhere but what is the total percentage you have to have to pass?? Thanks!

I would take out a GED math study guide from the Library. Most of the math is based on high school stuff anyway.
I also studied from the TEAS guide, but didn’t find it terribly helpful.
One more tip, if you are taking in on the computer practice using one before the actual test.
I didn’t know mine was going to be on the computer only and felt I didn’t do as well because the format was so foreign to me.

I was bad at math, but I made a little study guide from the TEAS book. I studied that and worked out problems for a while, and I ended up getting a 90% on the math section. I took version 5, so it may be different, but the actual TEAS study book had problems that were exactly like the math section on the real test. The math wasn't really that hard once I went over it. It was more like stuff that I learned a long time ago (like in middle school), but because I hadn't seen it in a while I forgot things.
Every school is different in what they want, so I can't really say what passing is. I would guess that anything above the national average or at the national average would be passing... For my school, it was the first year they used version 5, so we just went by that.
Also, don't be worried if you don't do super well. You have the other sections to help boost you up in the end!
Thanks! I just found out that i need atleast a 67% to pass/get excepted. i only have a week to study for this bc i just found out yesterday. what kind of math problems are on the test??
Oh and did anyone get to use a calculator?

I took the TEAS IV a couple of weeks ago. The math section isn't terribly hard (although I really like math, so take that for what its worth), but there are a bunch of questions and it is timed. I didn't get to use a calculator, but have heard that others do. I think that is what takes the most time....not using a calculator. Problems were things like multiplying/dividing fractions, adding and subtracting big numbers, pie graphs and converting to percentages, percent of increase and percent of decrease (which I am TERRIBLE at), etcetera. This was the only section I almost ran out of time on, because I had to do it all by hand. I went to my community college library and checked out the TEAS test book. I studied it for a week or so and did okay. Honestly, for me the tough part was the science section because it was so all over the board and I hadn't had any science since I was in high school (almost 20 years ago). Good luck!

We were not able to use calculators either but I found myself running out of time so I would suggest for the problems with the adding and subtracting alot of numbers try rounding off and find the answer closet to the answer you got. It's almost impossible to work out every problem. I took the Teas Version 4. We had a lot of fractions and percentages so study that really good. Also, temperature. The math wasn't hard it's just they don't give you too much time. You almost need to work a problem out in a minute so work out every problem. I would practice the online test on the atitesting site because you can get familiar with the format like an earlier post had stated. Working math on a computer was quite different.
But if all fails...GUESS, usually your first guess is the right answer.
GOOD LUCK, relax and breath and you'll do fine...
oh another tip, if you get nervous about remembering formulas like the area of a triangle. Write it on your scratch paper before you start. Then you don't have to sit there and try to remember the formula. I did, but I didn't have too many of those question in my Teas test.

Most of the math on TEAS was Algebra and lower...
The TEAS study guide didn't help me much either...
I would practice up on my algebra and arithematic...
Take a deep breath and PRAY!
GOOD LUCK on your TEAS!
Thanks everyone. I bought the kaplan study guide today and did the practice test before studying it.. and i got 12 out of 22 math questions correct. Im not terrible at math. but not great either. i guess getting a little over half of them correct is decent. Now, the science is another story! It is hard! I have been reading it for like 2 hours!! How did you guys remember all of that stuff?? any advice on studying/remembering the science part??
im just nervouse bc i only get one shot! but only need 67% to pass..

My advice is to set aside some hours and take the test real time, an entire test like you were taking the real thing. Then go back and study only the questions you got wrong, that will cut down on time studying subject you do not need to review.
I also put little stars next to questions I knew i was having troble with when taking the practice tests, and reviewed those subjects.
This is helpful if you have a limited amount of time to study
Thanks. I've been reading the science from the kaplan study guide and goodness its a lot to remember and pretty brutal! Makes me nervous.. the closer i get to friday the more nervous i get!
I will defiantly do those practice tests. the science was the only one i did poorly on. the math i got over half right. 12/22. science was 6/16. reading was 10/11.language was 12/16.
So.. now i have to go do some science! :)
Thanks for answering!
