TB Skin testing

My employer just informed me that it is a requirement to be TB certified in Michigan now before you can administer or read a tb skin test.

I looked on the MDCH webpage, and there is nothing stating that it is required, or that any laws have been passed in regard to this.

Does anyone know anything about this? I am thoroughly confused and maybe a bit annoyed about it! :)

I actually called the Board of nursing, Oakland County health department and did a ton of research. The cannot force you to take the class to be certified unless you work for a company and it is part of their policy. They do highly recommend it. I have been an IC nurse for over 3 years and was completely floored when someone tried to challenge my ability to read a TB test. Hope this helps!
