Taking up Nursing course

Good day to all of you!

I am a new member on this website and it is very useful specially to the nursing student. I have a few questions about going back to college and taking up a Nursing course. I am an immigrant here in the US (green card holder), I am originally from the Philippines and i studied college there but I don't have my transcript of records or diploma because I haven't finish it yet, i just got a High school Transcript of records. I am planning to study here again and taking up Nursing. now my questions are the ff:

1) Will it be okay to study in the US without a college transcript from where you live and you will just have a High school transcript of records or Diploma?

2) What are the requirements to go to a nursing school?

3) Do i need to take up GED first before going to college?

4) Does community college will be okay?

5) Am i qualified to have a financial assistance or to have a loan since i am just a permanent resident? Lastly,

6) Will it be okay to take up LPN 1st and then proceed to RN someday and how many years is the LPN?

Thank you very much guys for reading this post. your ideas and opinions is highly appreciated. God Bless Us All.

Hi there,

Here's what I would do...

1st go check out the near by Community college to see what you need to take. Perhaps TOFAL exam to get into taking college classes. This answer your 1st question.

2. Every school is different so you need to go to the Colleges that offers nursing program.

3. From what I know, GED is for those without a high school dipolma.

4. Yes, Community colleges are cheap and good way to get your pre-reqs done or even become an RN.

5. You need to ck with the financial counselor for this question.

6. Another option for you is to become a CNA while going to school to become an RN. CNA is just a semester course to get certified.

Good luck!
