Taking the NET

U.S.A. Kansas

I will be taking the NET exam on Thursday morning and am very nervous about the science part of the test. Could anyone tell me what to expect and maybe how the test is graded??? Thanks so much !!

Hi!

I can't tell you much about the science part of the test because the NET test I took consisted on math and reading...no science. The only advice I could give you is to see if your college bookstore has a NET study guide you can pick up and look at before the test.

By the way, what college are you trying to get into? WSU? Newman? I'm in the nursing program at BCCC. I thought the NET test was a standard test, but it sounds like there's different variations.

What I can tell you about the NET test I took was that it was graded by percentile. My overall score was a 90 out of 99. I don't know if this helps. If your NET does have a math section, I would suggest looking over fractions, decimals, percentages, and basic algebra questions.

Good luck on your test!

Sherri

Thanks for the info. I am taking the test at NCCC (Chanute). My girlfriend took the test last Jan. and it was only Reading, English and Math. The director at NCCC told me they were starting the new testing this year. Again thank you for taking the time to reply.

I too am going to be taking the test at NCCC. I bought the study guide they had in the bookstore and that has helped a lot, especially for the math. The reading comprehension, math, and english parts don't seem too bad, but the science is terrifying to me! I took A&P last semester, and am taking Microbiology this semester, but the study guide had a lot of chemistry and physics stuff, too.

I have a friend who is taking the test tomorrow, and is going to let me know how it went. I'll PM you and let you know what she has to say. Do you know yet when you're testing? If you want to see the study guide, maybe I could lend mine to you. (I'm in Iola)

I AM TAKING THE TEST ON THE 8TH. I FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE MATH, ENGLISH AND READING BUT LIKE OU THE SCIENCE IS TERRIFYING. I HAVE THE STUDY GUIDE AND IT HAS BEEN HELPFUL. I TOOK A&P THIS LAST SUMMER BUT THE OTHER AREAS IN SCIENCE LOOK LIKE A FORIEGN LANGUAGE. THANKS FOR THE HELP!

mommy2dd,

Good luck on the test...let us know how it turned out for you. I'm sure you'll do fine!!

Luck,

Dana

I took the test just two days ago, there were no science questions. But there was a passage that you would read regarding scientific stuff, but all the information is there that you need so no science background is really neccesary. The biggest part of the test was the math - 60 questions in 60 min - what you don't get done counts against you and you don't know how much time you have left unless you happened to look at a clock before you started. I was able to finish it fine, but for some people that might be a little rough. Also the last section (which I still don't understand) gives you some really confusing test-taking questions that made absolutly no sense!! Overall I did well, ranked in the 99th percentile - but for my test-taking skills it listed me as "frustrated" - and I would say for that part yes I was.... for anyone who has taken it, you'll understand!!!

Hello..I live in Iola KS also...I am just getting started, getting my prerequsites out of the way here at ACCC. I figure I have at least one more year to get my basics out of the way, like A&P, Micro, and such. How are things going for you? It has been quite a struggle for me so far, but I am muddeling through. :) Drop me a line sometime if you want.

Cheers!

Alyssa

AlyssaJoy, I'm going to PM you!

I don't remember what the NET exactly had on it---but if I remember correctly it was a core of basic knowledge and skill and is a tool--not the final say in predicting success in the nursing program.

Good Luck, don't sweat about it --I am sure you'll do fine. :) :)

ksrnstudent are you in bccc as in Barton?

Petiteflower,

No, I'm in the ADN program at Butler County Community College close to Wichita.
