Taking NCLEX out of state

Published

Has anyone ever taken the NCLEX out of state? I am looking to take my boards out of state because I plan on moving there in the next year. Is it possible to do so if the state is a compact state? I have heard different answers so I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this. Thanks!!

NCLEX is a national exam- it doesn't matter where you take it- you could live in NM, test in CO, and apply for licensure in UT. What matters is to what state you apply for licensure. You can apply to the new state for licensure as a new graduate, but it will not be a compact license unless you physically reside in that state.
