T system

We just went to the T system for our charting in the ER. Does anyone else use this, it has been a frustrating change , I just am wondering if we will get used to it??? Our doc's also use the T system and they keep stealing our nursing sheets because they look so much like theres!!!:trout:

We use the T-charting for our MDs but the rest of the charting and ordering is done via EMSTAT which is a computerized charting program. Since its only the docs using the T-chart, its easy to keep separate.

Nurses and Docs used the T-sheets at the last ER I worked at. Coming in as a traveler, I got used to them fairly quickly. It's good to know you can always grab a progress note (at least we could) and add stuff if needed. I only needed to once. The Docs had their T-sheets in a completely different place.

The ER I am in now uses the T-sheets only for the docs and only in the walk-in side of the ER. I miss the nursing T-sheets when I am over there. I like having things to circle/cross out or computer charting. I don't like to have to narrate everything!

Have never used the nursing system but have been in several hospitals that the ED doc use/used it. My thoughts are with the push towards electronic documentation why your hospital didn't go that direction- allthough the T-System does have an electronic version. I have heard various rumors that sooner of later places are going to be forced to do so. SO why not be ahead of the game and go for it now. My ED is starting the process currently. That and most of what I have been reading the systems pay for themselves with recovered lost revenue.

My hospital began using the T system last year and it was sooooo confusing..BUT we all adjusted and really everyone likes it now..it really is easier..the only thing I don't like is there isn't enough space to write in the nursing notes...you all will adjut.

We used T-system in our ER and I loved it! It took some of the older nurses a little while to get used to, but it saved a ton of time compared to paper charting. On days when the system would go down it would wreak havoc on the entire day.....paper charts would get lost, orders would get lost, too much time was spent on paper charting, etc....

we use the T system for nursing and docs. The thing about ours is they keep changing ours to put stuff on it like the siderail documentation, call light documentation, etc. We are getting new changes to it again Monday. We have another sheet that we chart meds, treatments, etc on. So we push a lot of paper compared to some. I will be glad to go to computerized charting! I feel your frustration.

Do you have to backslash through every thing and circle everything appropriate like we do? You can't miss anything or they will zing you in chart review.

we do have to backslash and circle things so far they aren't real sticklers as long as what we did for the pt is addressed.

we use the T-system and have found many flaws, overall though they seem to be efficient to use.

The ER I just came from used the T-system. Initially, it was a huge change. After many revisions and customizing to suit our needs, its not too bad now. I was on the committee that customized the sheets to work in our ER. It was an experience in itself. I agree with a previous post about not having enough room for notes but after speaking with the company about this, their response was "That is the beauty of the T-System. It will allow you to quickly and efficiently chart on your patient without the need for lengthy nurse's notes". Not sure if I totally agree with that response but we are now into the Nurse's 4th year using them and the docs 6 so it seems to work for us. Hope that helps. Any questions PM me.

I did my last semster clinical at an ER that used the T-system, and I loved it! My charting was simple fast and with a few clicks, the system puts it into a perfectly written and correctly spelled paragraph! I miss it!

Just curious ... what is Tsystem? Assuming it is some kind of electronic charting?

thanks
