Switching States

I currently hold an RN license in a compact state (still working on my BSN) and I am looking to move and begin somewhere new. I am 28, single, and have a dog. I have been wrestling with where to move.... I currently live in Louisville, KY and I feel like anomaly! Any suggestions where I should try next? Hopefully a place that has some good hospitals and won't be shocked at single 28 year old woman?! Also, remember we're nurses and can only afford so much =0) I was thinking maybe Charleston, SC or maybe north to Maryland? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance!

Good Morning and welcome to allnurses! It is a great place to find an answer to all your questions about nursing

At 28 it will be great to travel to another state to add to your experience I travelled from the UK to US

From AZ to OH

Just curious . . . why do you feel like an anomaly? Because of your 'marital status'? Are you sure that it is "shocking" to encounter a 28 year old single person? Just seems a bit odd to me - perhaps you may want to consider the possibility that you may be a bit overly sensitive.

If you're motivated to change locations in order to find a workplace that is a better fit - more single people, less perceived judgey-ness (or whatever), that may be difficult. How in the world would you determine this as part of your job search? You may find yourself in a worse place. Maybe the real solution is just to become more comfortable with yourself & scrape off people that invoke those negative feelings.

At any rate, I wish you the best of luck. Be happy.
