I use that green Saunder's "Comprehensive" book myself, and really like it.

I know that there is a newer addition out there but all of my students have used this one and have passed the first time. So I am quite biased with this one.

It really doesn't matter which issue, they are the best at giving reasons why an answer is correct, as well as why the incorrect ones are wrong.........

And most of my students have graduated from nursing schools overseas where English was not their primary language..............I believe in using what works. And if they can explain it for foreign educated nurses, then the Americans should do just fine..............

I think you are the best person to give me an advise. I am a graduate of international school of nursing. I am planning on taking NCLEX this fall and was planning on taking Kaplan NCLEX Review for International Graduates. However, I keep hearing that their review is not very helpful.

It sounds like you tutor the students that are graduates of foreign school of nursing...Please give any helpful advise or recommendations as to which review programs are the best. I reside in Atlanta, GA, but would be willing to travel if it is not available in my area.

Use the green Saunders book and you should be just fine............but it also depends on where you attended school and when you graduated..Can you be more specific?

I personally have not been impressed by the Kaplan Courses, nor their program for International Graduates.........

Are there any good programs you can recommend for International Students? I graduated in 2002 from a 2-year program and it has taken me this long to go through the process (with credentials evaluation, board application, etc.).. Although English is not my native language I am fluent in it. However I have a tendency to get anxious before the tests and I am terrified of NCLEX!

Where did you train that your credentials were approved with just a two year program? Did you already have a degree in another field, such as medicine or something similar?

What type of visa are you currently on? If you are applying for a green card, then you will also need to complete the Visa screen Certificate. Have you completed the set of required English exams, as well?

I have taken TOEFL as required by Board of Nursing and University admissions and have passed it a few years back.

Also, a two year nursing program is sufficient as long as you have all the required class/subject credit hours, clinicals and have graduated from reputable/approved school of nursing. Very important is to be a general or a first level nurse in your country of education/practice. This is comparable to RN here.

But back to the subject... Are there any review programs that you recommend for International Graduates? - I really would feel more at ease if I took one before going for NCLEX.

What types of classes do you teach? If you prepare students for NCLEX-RN are you anywhere close to GA?

I am asking which country for my own information. Most countries that now offer two year programs for a nursing degree are considered equivalent to th eLPN programs here. I am well aware of what CGFNS requires.........I own a school overseas preparing nurses for working in the US, as well as physicians who wish to train in the US.

I teach only a full course overseas, not just a review seminar for nurses already over here..............my feeling that there is not much use for just the few days of review, my students that I work with and help, each have passed on the first time using the materials that I have sent them.

And just so taht you are aware, many facilities will require the TSE of their employees if they are foreign-trained. Most could care less about TOEFL.

Unlike you I am very new to this forum and I could not have possibly been aware of your qualifications and background. I just read your posting recommending Saunders book and you sounded like someone who knew what they were talking about, so I asked for your advise regarding best option for reviewing for NCLEX-RN for international graduates. Thank you for trying to help, but I do not require any information or assistance with visa or immigration, since I am a US citizen (It is a long story that I do not care to discuss on the forum).

I definitely agree that 3-5 day reviews are of very little value, but that is all that I have found available thus far. And since, as I have mentioned to you, I do experience anxiety when tested, I would want to take every oportunity to learn, review/refresh and succeed.

So, do I understand correctly that you do not teach in the US but only overseas? Can you suggest any good courses, reviews, or tools for me to use to prepare for NCLEX-RN? I do have Saunders Q & A REVIEW FOR NCLEX-RN as well as SAUNDERS COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW FOR NCLEX-RN.

By the way do you "specialize" or only work with certain countries or just with international community in general? - I do have a few friends from school that are interested in immigrating to US.

SuzanaS I am just like you. I too get anxious about exams and have anxiety about the Nclex. My exam is in June and I plan to pass it on the first try. I agree that Saunders is a good book. I know alot of Nurse graduates as well as myself get so caught up on passing that they want to try every book in the world. Listen, I learned a few things today and that is to relax. Don't go around trying to read all different types of books and Cd's it makes no sense and besides it is probably a waste of time. Buy one good review book, get 2 great Nclex review Cd's and focus on those only. They say that you should do at least 3,000 ques before the nclex so get a cd that has that and if you buy two diff type of Cd's that is 7,000 ques to review. I am learning that time is so precious that we can't waste it.
