Suggestions, please?!

Hi everyone! I am currently going into my senior year of a BSN program. I am on my winter break and go back to school January 23/24th. I live in Long island ny and was wondering how I can go about getting additional certifications or what I should do either now or over the summer (or both) to further my education and help with getting a job. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? I love L & D and womens health so I would like to do something to help facilitate getting a job in that area. Any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you.

Join AWHONN. Take a beginning EFM course. Maybe look into getting a CLC certification.

I would do an AWHONN fetal monitoring course, and NRP. If you can, ACLS would be good, too.

What does these abbreviations mean?

What does these abbreviations mean?

AWHONN: Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses

EFM: external fetal monitoring

CLC: certified lactation consultant (also IBCLC- international board-certified LC)

NRP: neonatal resuscitation program

ACLS: advanced cardiac life support

CLC is certified lactation counselor, which is not the same thing as an IBCLC, international board certified lactation consultant.
