Such a fool

Hello. I applied to an LPN program last year and was accepted. I was beyond excited. About two weeks ago, I found out the program is not ACEN accredited. That's a major problem because I planned on moving to Illinois from Oklahoma and I can't now because it's not accredited. Has anyone came upon this problem before? Should I just stop going since I'm pretty much wasting my time on a program not accredited? I don't know what to do. I'm so confused.

I would apply elsewhere.

I understand your frustration but can you sit for the boards with the credit hours? If the answer is yes then keep going. The program I attend isn't accredited by ACEN, but it is approved by COE of my state and it's on my BON education list.

Don't let anything deter you from your goals and your dreams.

Most LPN programs are only BoN approved.

The problem I'm running into is that I can't get my license in other states because it's not accredited. From what I've read, it needs to be ACEN accredited for me to get my license in the other state after I've sat for boards.

Not true for LPN. It needs to be BoN approved in the state where the school is and meet the academic standards of the state you wish to endorse to

I'm moving from Oklahoma to Illinois. I contacted the BON in Illinois and they said they would take it because it wasn't accredited. The guy wasn't very friendly with me so maybe that was why.

Is it a for profit school?

Did you read the endorsement requirements online/application? Sometimes if you don't ask the right question you don't get the right answer.

It's not a for profit school. They just lost their ACEN although they swore to everyone they had it. I read the endorsement information but I didn't read anything that said it needs to be ACEN accredited. I did contact them again so I'll hopefully get some answers.
