Studying in Phils. and Canada

I'm Canadian and my wife is Filipina. She is just finishing her 1st year in the Philippines. I was thinking 2nd year here and 3rd and 4th years in Canada.

Any thoughts?

TIA

She may have a problem doing this as nursing schools in Canada may require her to do the whole course not just part of it.

Have you tried talking to any nursing schools in Canada to see if this is possible?

No I haven't talked to any Canadian schools yet. I was just wondering if anyone had done that before. Is there much different in the quality of schools in Canada compared to Phils? She is going to one of the better ones in Phils.

I doubt it matters what type of school she goes to in the Philippines, it would be a case of meeting Canadian requirements and for many there is no transfer of credits so may have to do the whole thing again. I would say you are better off chatting to local schools and seeing what they say

My health region recruited a large number of nurses about two years back from the Phillipines, NZ, and Australia. Problems were found in the education of the Phillipino nurses. There completed degrees weren't the equivalent of the degrees issued here. The nurses from NZ and Australia had fewer problems settling into the Canadian workplace. Several nurses from the Phillipines were required to return home when they did not perform to their educational background and completion of an introduction to Canadian nursing course paid for by the employer.

If your wife is serious about nursing in Canada, she would be far better served in the long run by being educated here. She would learn nursing for Canadians in a Canadian setting. Yes, it would be more expensive in the long run but her education would never be questioned.
