Studying pharm

Getting back into studying was a little hard for me. I just started an NP program after being out of school for about five years. I tried to do all the reading but I found that to be a bit tedious and I didn't absorb the information all that well. Have you tried Quizlet? I've found Quizlet to help me a lot. I take the powerpoints from class, recorded lecture, expanded on those topics from the book and kind of transcribed those over to Quizlet in question form. With Quizlet you can play games with your material and have virtual flashcards that make studying a lot easier. Have you also tried studying with friends from class?

I'm right there with you! I'm currently taking pharm, and find it to be pretty overwhelming! I did well and got an A on our first exam, but we have one coming up Monday that I'm in a bit of a panic over. I can't seem to find a way to study that helps me memorize the large amount of information I need to know! A couple things that have been slightly helpful are:

-Find a study buddy in your class to go over things with, and that you can just text when you need to vent

-Repetition!

-Flash cards of all the drugs that include their mechanism of action and classification

-Finding common suffixes to help me determine which class a drug fits into (for example, ACE inhibitors end in -pril)

-Taking practice NCLEX tests that cover pharmacology online

-Listening to my professors recorded lectures

and finally,

-Taking a small, 5-10 minute break every hour! Your brain can only process information for so long before it needs a small break!

I passed mine by remembering mnemonics. Pinterest was my best friend for that class.
