Studying Patho????

Hi all. I posted this for student familiar with my university but apparently no one on here goes to USF. As I posted before, I have a good gpa but in my BSN program no matter how much I studied patho and thought I knew it, I didn't test well. Any suggestions on how to study patho??? I am worried about it at the master's level. I made a high B at the baccalaureate level. Any suggestions appreciated as I don't like to sweat it?

Right now- Buy one of the complete review courses (Cd's + books) either Fitzgerald or Barkley -the whole review version and Fitzgeral'ds certification question review book -review these before exams and before studying the material. They will give you a good grasp of the basic important stuff and sample questions based on patho, on whatever system you are studying.

I used Fitzgerald's review book during my entire program. It was a good concise way to review what was important. And Florida.....a high B in patho is nothing to be ashamed of!! It sounds like you have a good grasp of the basics, which should serve you well in Advanced Patho.

I'd recommend getting Goljan's patho lectures. you can easily find bootlegs online. med students use them in prep. for USMLE I. i listen to them on my way to clinic and they're very helpful. goljan is a pathologist and a very entertaining lecturer. if you cant find them you could PM me and i'm sure i could figure out a way to get them to you (dvd, compressed .zip, or something). advanced patho is challenging, but doable.

Goljian also has a book called rapid review of pathology. It has quickly become the gold standard used for USMLE review. I would highly recommend it.

Thank you for this recommendation. I looked that book up on amazon, and saw many reviews recommended also using "Robbins and Cotran Review of Pathology." Would you agree with that?

I don't know what text I will be using for my upcoming pathophys class, but I'm sure supplementation will be helpful and both of the above review books are affordable.

That seems like a good tip for patho. Wish I knew of this last semester. Do you have any tips on studying for advanced assessment? I am taking a summer course and so much info is crammed into short period of time.

Thanks.
