Students for Fall 2014 Tri-C program?

I knew I may be kind of premature with this topic but I wanted to start a thread for the people who have been accepted into the Tri-C nursing program for the fall semester. As of this morning, I was provisionally accepted into the program at Metro. Has anyone else been placed and if so which campus?

You may want to go on that website that ends in "book" and start (or join) a group there.

Well, I'm about to submit for review and I currently attend Tri-C as a student but I'm not sure if I will end up going there. I'm applying to a few places and will make a final decision when I hear back from them. I'm applying as an evening/weekend East Campus student. I know their program is really good and I meet all the requirements so I should be accepted without an issue but I'm hesitant because I'm very concerned that I won't be able to find a job until I'm done my BSN and definitely not in the fields I'm interested in, especially as there is no preceptorship or anything. Also, it will actually only take me 5-6 semesters to do my BSN which is the same length as doing the ADN so it would be kind of painful to spend that same amount of time and not end with the BSN BUT the price at Tri-C IS very agreeable for sure!

From another thread I see that you are interested in CWRU, too, but have financial concerns. If you want to end up with a BSN, why not consider Cleveland State's BSN program? Or, consider going to Tri-C's program, but take some courses that will transfer to a BSN program during the summer.

Probably the best thing you can do to increase your chances of getting a job after nursing school is to work as a PCNA at a hospital while you are in school. Preferably, one that will pay for you to get your BSN, if you've gone the ADN route. Unfortunately, jobs are difficult for new grads to find, no matter what degree they have. It is possible, however, that the job market will loosen up by the time you are ready to enter it.

Thank you! I originally wrote off CSU's program I believe because they did not allow summer classes and would take me longer to graduate than other schools however I ended up going over and taking another look at their program and it definitely looks like it might be a good fit. My husband went to CSU as well and I've been on campus quite a bit so I do really like the school. I will probably end up applying to Tri-C, CSU, and Kent before I make the final decision based on where I get in and if I do end up going to Tri-C, I will definitely take your advice and try to get a PCNA position. Tri-C's schedule is definitely much more convenient for me with the evening/weekend option and I really like East Campus and many of the instructors but the major negative for me is the fact that I have almost all of my general education requirements and humanities already done and just need the nursing classes so the amount of time for the ADN and the BSN is almost identical for me at some schools. Also, I was a little let down to hear that there isn't much opportunity for certain clinical experiences since the ADN program lacks the preceptorship/practicum of the BSN programs where you can gain experience in a specific area of interest. I am interested in NICU and antepartum and those areas usually don't get much attention in the regular clinical experiences.

So, Bubbly26, are you provisionally accepted to evenings or days at Metro? Congratulations are getting in!

I am getting prepared to send my transcript over for review. I just need the grades to post and schedule my interview with a counselor. Im pretty positive that I will be applying for the Night/Weekends at Westshore since I live out in Lorain County.

I was thinking of applying to the accelerated program but I have to finish A&P 2 and Micro first.

I submitted for evaluation the day grades came out for Fall 2013 and it mentioned taking about a week before receiving a response. I haven't heard anything and I know I still need to take the HESI so does anyone know if this is probably because of the break and I should start waiting from now or if I should probably follow up?

hey musaafirah

the evaluation usually take up to two weeks. call them if u haven't heard anything a week after. there still have opening on the fall 2014. so don't be too stressful. good luck
