stormy night

Published

I am a geriatric nurse. I was at work one evening and had an alzhiemers patient who had been trying to get out the door all night. It was about 830 and here he came again to find the door. We were under storm warnings so i just told him he needed to go to room it was fixing to storm. now everyone knows how small nursing home closets or hosp closets are. 40 mins later the cna's yell for me to come help him. He was in the closet with the matress off the bed in there with him . I told the girls if it ever storms I'm following him . Now we liked to never got him or the matress out of the closet .(so funny) it took him some real working to get it in there in the first place

Specializes in Staff nurse.

...amazing what the idea of the need to survive will produce :) Glad he stayed in for the night (I am assuming).

How cute, I can picture him trying to get it in myself. Thanks for sharing.

yes it is ...as a matter of fact he did stay in. was moved later due to the fact he climbed out a window to leave. We are close to a highway so wasn't safe for him there. I hated to see him go was sad for me. but he did need somewhere safer.
