Stony Brook 2 year program

Published

Hi! I got accepted to the Stony Brook's 2 year program starting Fall 2009. I am excited to start. I was wondering if any one knew what type of schedule it is? I have seen the accelerated program schedule, is it similar? Also, any advice about the program or sharing your thoughts on the program?

Is the two year program you're enrolled in for a BSN? Do you mind sharing what your estimated total expense will be? I am considering the same school. Thanks.

I start in the fall and I am not sure what my overall expenses are going to be. I am going to try to work part-time during school. The 2 year program is a BSN. I am going for my BSN because I would like to go back to school in the future for my masters. Stony Brook is a good school with a good reputation which is why I have decided to go there, plus it is local for me and has the program I am looking to do.

hello there, congrats

I like you have been recently accepted, goin to orientation on thursday, have you gone to orientation already?,,,

I have to rearrange some things because I was also accepted into suffolk and paid the deposit and even bought books, so,,,, cant wait to get their book list to see if any of the are the same,,

keep in touch,

Congrats on your acceptance. There hasnt been any prior orientation, everyone goes on thursday. I am excited to start. Stony brook has not really given much information. I want to know the schedule and what books we need. Only 2 more days!!!!

that is really good to hear that I have not missed anything, I found out my schedule I had to for child care reasons, its basically mon, tues, wed, then i think they let you off on thursdays and later sometime we have classes on fridays too. so I hope to see you there, I am also just starting to get excited,,,,

You are lucky, because when I called they would never tell me. Did they tell you times for classes Did they say when clinicals would be? I am very excited to start as well.

Madison09 congratulations. I am very interested in Stony Brook and plan on applying for both the accelerated and the two year (i think they are separate applications if I'm correct?). However, I was wondering what your statistics were like. Do you know how big the 2 year class size is? I know the accelerated is fairly small, so probably more competitive to get into. But being that I'm really interested in getting into the program, I think I would be happy getting into either.

Thanks!

the accelerated progam is larger, better chance of getting in if you have the min requirement. 2 year program is smaller.

but, it does change every year how big each class gets depending on funding.

I highly recommend going to a info session as they are not easy to get on the phone. good luck

Kamyrn2007 - thanks so much for the times - very helpful - I am hoping I get clinicals on thursday - I work on the weekends - and I dont want to give it up. So we will see - Orientation is only one day away!!!! I want to know what books we need. I dont want to go through the book store. Hopefully for you, you wont need to buy that many. Ahhh. I am so excited to start.

Sera1987 - I applied to both and I am so glad that I did. I wouldnt of had all my pre reqs done for the accelerated program which is why I didnt get accepted. I am very excited about the 2 yr program - I feel like it is better for me. The acclerated program is intense. I would apply to both and it is 2 applications, but they use your supporting documents for both applications. So you only need 3 letter of recommendations and you can do the same essay for both as well. Keep an eye on deadlines. I would also go to an info session. They dont give you much info by phone. So the info session was very helpful. I took statistics through stony brook - through the school of nursing and i def recommend it. It is a awesome class. The professor is awesome. Both programs are very competitive so good luck!!!!!!!

madison09 do you know anyone who have done the program, I hear its a tough program and very intense, and it would be hard to continue working, not sure though, I guess we will find out as we go.

I have heard that both programs are very tough. I feel ready for it. My job is very understanding of me being in school. It is a give and take relationship - so we will see. I am so ready to start!!!!! Tomorrow is the day!
