  1. These responses are totally contrary to what I just heard from the director of admissions at Stony Brook on Long Island. I am currently vetting nursing schools and figuring out my options/paths. She specifically told me that a BSN would mean a starting salary in the 60s and an associates degree would mean starting in the low 40s. Is she completely inaccurate? I have a BS in Biology and was hoping to just go to nursing school to get the RN education and skip the extra time to earn a second undergraduate degree (BSN). It is my understanding that getting an RN would be a two year program leading to an associates degree. Can someone clarify what the significance and DIFFERENCE of ADN, BSN, nursing school itself (does completing nursing school give you a degree) and the RN title??? THANKS!
  2. UUGGGHH. I had suspected that the nationwide deficiency might be exaggerated. THank you for your repsonse. Do you think this applies to upper level nursing/APN/CRNA as well?
  3. I am currently researching nursing schools to attend. I live on the East end of Long Island. The most convenient choices are the state universities which are also the most affordable. I was just told by Stony Brook and Farmingdale that they will receive between 1500-2500 applicants for 40-70 spots. I was told by one admissions director that this is a 400% increase from last year. Question: with the huge influx of nursing students and an economic downturn resulting in cut shifts (as I understand from reading these blogs and in the news), can a new nurse student expect the job market to continue to grow dramatically in the next ten years as everyone has been buzzing about in previous years?? Can working nurses comment on the existing job market, availability of shifts/overtime and also pay raises? Are there out of work nurses out there or new nurses unable to find employment?
  4. Is the two year program you're enrolled in for a BSN? Do you mind sharing what your estimated total expense will be? I am considering the same school. Thanks.
  5. I have the same question... What percentage should the doctor receive for his role as medical director? Is it typical to give a percentage of each procedure to the doc or has anyone experienced a situation where you pay your sponsoring doc a flat fee to practice under his license? Also, how much does the product actually cost?...specifically botox and restalyne? I am trying to piece together a business model. Thanks.
