I was reading about this program on the stony brook website what does it mean when they say for non bsn's " clinical practice portfolio to be evaluated for baccalaureate-level nursing competencies" ? I have a BS in health Administration and am hopefully becoming an LPN student this fall. I want to immediately get an RN degree. do you think that I can go straight to Masters degree in nursing? with my LPN and BS in Health

Specializes in PCU, LTAC, Corrections.

Basically they mean if you have a BS/BA and have a RN license (ADN/ASN) and apply to a program they will want your portfolio (what you have practiced, how long you have practiced, your clinical responsibilities, and articles who possibly published, any projects who have completed at the hosipital/health care setting you work at) to decide if they will let you in the program without having an official BSN.

thanks for your clarification. but it would be nice to be able to skip a step and go straight to an MSN. but, as God will allow I will just have to climb the ladder like everyone else. :)

Specializes in SICU, MICU, Med/Surg, ER, Private Duty.

They mean, RNs who don't have their BSN, but have a BS in another field.

Specializes in Geriatrics, Hospice, Disease Management.

Actually there are schools that will accept you into their MSN if you are a RN (with an Associates) with a Masters in anything, but you really have to look I had the link and info from this site when I was doing my LPN to RN because I have my BA from SBU but I can't find the info

I was put on the alternate list for Stony Brook's 2 yr program. Does anyone know how the list works?

Thanks!
