stethoscopes

Spragues are good, just very heavy and awkward, IMO. I can hear better w/ Sprague that I can w/ Littman. As a matter of fact, I am going to be selling my two Littmans, because I can't hear a darn thing with them!

I am using a Thomas Medical scope now. Cheap, and good sound!

I'm starting school in the fall, and they have us get Spragues. Does anyone know if those are any good?

They are simple scopes. Invest in a good quality stethoscope; be sure to tag it with your name and don't let it out of your site. I've had a couple 'disappear'.

I used a Littman cardiology II scope and loved it. It sits in a drawer now since I don't do floor nursing anymore, but I hang onto it just in case. It was a present from a doctor I used to work for, quite a nice gift from her.

The Littmann Lighttweight II SE i hear very well on, and hear just as well on it as i did on the master cardiology style, and i didn't pay a crapload for it.

If you're a student, i recommend using a cheapo, since nice stethoscopes tendsto grow legs and walk even more in school.

If i had the money, i'd spend the $400 on an electronic stethoscope (Phillips, or Littmann), since i am 50% deaf in my left ear, and i reply heavily on my right one for listening to all sound pitches.
