Stethoscope ID tag

I am looking for a pattern/instructions for making a beaded stethoscope ID tag. I have seen pictures of them as well as sites to purchase them, but I can't find a pattern. Considering the cost of a good stethoscope I would like to personalize mine. Any ideas?:redbeathe

It sounds like a really neat idea, but I would be worried about

a) infection control....there are lots of icky bugs that can get in and around those beads; and

b) injury either to yourself or a pt if the tag should break.

Not discouraging you per se, just take those things into consideration when you're looking for something. :)

A lot of nurses where I work have dog tags (not military tags, actual tags like you would put on your puppy) zip tied to their stethoscopes. I don't because I don't want to be a copycat, but my stethoscope is engraved. Another nurse wanted to get his engraved and said the place he went to refused to do it because it would mess up the sound, but mine seems fine.

The dog tag idea is a good one! My stethoscope is engraved (my dad got it for me for Christmas from allheart.com), my last stethoscope had one of the id tags that I ordered at the same time. I have a Littmann. When the engraving wears off (a few of my coworkers have had that happen since it seems that it's more printed than actually engraved), I'll just order an id tag.

steeles.com engraves the bell of the scope so it doesn't wear off like the printing on the tubing.
