Stethoscope Engraving?

Published

So I read through a post about stethoscopes on here and a lot of people say that you should get them engraved... Is there a reason why? Also is there a place that you can get them engraved? The only place that I could think of is the engraving store in the mall. I don't really have time to send it off to Littman since school starts in less than two weeks. Thanks for reading!

Some jewelry shops will engrave them.

The reason why is to help distinguish them as yours and you may be likely to get it back if it walks away. Everyone has a stethoscope and you're likely to mix it up once.

I have mine engraved after one was stolen and I also put a stethoscope watch on it.

I had a nice Littman engraved with my initials and it was stolen by a resident about six months after I graduated. Engraving doesn't protect your investment, though it might help to identify it if you end up losing it somewhere.

If you are considering engraving your stethoscope to prevent theft, I would go with the cheaper and hassle-free option, which is to keep it in your pocket and don't let it go. If you do give it up, don't let your eyes off of it.

Like a PP said, your name won't stop someone from taking your stethoscope.

Thank you for the feedback guys! :)

Just knick a star under where the tubing would be placed. Taking it out to engrave it now is a waste of money.

I took one of the hot pink colored restricted extremity arm bands, put my name one the one side and taped it around my stethoscope. It was always left hanging by the nurse server if I forgot it! Lol

I did the same labeling with a fall risk bracelet and mine hasn't disappeared since!
