anyone have any feedback on the psychiatric nursing program in BC run by Stenberg College? It is very expensive....

Specializes in OR.

Have heard of Stenberg & have heard that a couple of nurses graduated & secured jobs on psych ward in hosp after training with Stenberg. Private schools do cost more, than say Douglas College in BC or Psyc Training in Alta. but, I think the wait list to get in is less, I don't know any nurses personally that have trained with Stenberg.

For anyone considering going to a private college for nursing studies I would suggest that you thoroughly do your research before you commit to anything. Don't let the excitement and the rush to start a program blind you into only seeing the good about private colleges. I was lucky enough to do some good research and I am very glad that I did. All of the comments said the same thing about all of the private college - too expensive, lack of teaching, and difficulty finding employment in the field of study afterwards. Public colleges are worth the wait, are less expensive, and generally well known by all employers. Please, please, please do your research well before going to any private colleges.

I am enrolled in this program and so far is going well. Of course there are issues that need improvement (as in any school I am sure) but overall the program is very good. Everything is intense and condensed. Expensive too. Make sure you can face the tight schedule and can be organized enough to work online throughout the whole program. If you can wait couple of years to go to a public college and go through a longer program, by all means go there. Stenberg is very condensed and only some can face the stress and the intensity.

Hi gnub, I am interested in applying for the Psychiatric Nursing program at Stenberg, I think you must have been working by now since the above comment is very old, so just curious to know about this program at Stenberg.

Are they supportive enough to go through the courses that is the instructors are helpful and knowledgeable ?

What about the practicums ? how did they go for you, did you get help and support needed ?

Also could you provide some more details regarding the intensity of this online program in terms of schedule, exams, practicums etc.

Please help me by giving some insight into this program as I am not getting any practical information about this college from someone who has personally attended this program.

Thanks in advance.
