STCC Nursing

Hi I plan on applying for the nursing program for 2010. Can anyone tell me any info on the nursing for math course. I just want to know if it is self explanatory or should I purchase books to help study. Also, does the study guide for the HESI exam is that useful? I am not that well in math and hoping the study guide will help me. Thanks to anyone who can answer my question.

I found the HESI study guide useful. There is a lot of A&P and Bio stuff on there. Browse through all the STCC threads on here, myself and some of my fellow nursing students have put up a ton of useful info on here. Good luck!

The math course gives you everything you need to know to pass, don't worry! It gives you several pages of lessons for each topic, then exercises, then the actual test. You don't need any additional sources to get you through. You start the course by taking a math test to see where you are-- you may surprise yourself.. I tested a lot better than I thought I would.

As for the HESI, I used the study guide and found it very helpful. I did all the sections, even if I thought I didn't need to review it (such as addition and subtraction) .. the repetition helps. I started my studying pretty close to the time of my test, so it was all fresh in my mind. Just break it up and work on the book a little bit each night before your test. I did well enough the first time around to pass and get into the nursing program.

Good luck!
