Spring? Jan '07 here!

Can I get a WOOT???

I can't wait to get started in clinicals. I have been reading any nursing book I can get my hands on. I am also practicing taking bp's and other vitals on my fiance, friends and my cat!

I can't wait!

I start Jan '06!!! Very anxious. What books have you been reading?

The big red, pink and green Med/Surg book that everyone uses, I also have a bunch of books from the "Made Incredibly Easy" series, Pharmacology, A&P, etc. I spent hours in B&N Saturday!

I am waiting on a list of 200 of the most common drugs from a nursing instructor friend that I am going to go over. I am also working on drug dosage calculations. For some reason I am most nervous about the phamacology.

I started a thread here this morning on good books to read an a lor of folsk have given me some good advice. I am going to go those books as soon as I get some cash.

when you get those drugs from you friend "share the wealth"!!! :chucklehow do you find those "made incredibly easy" books. I spend some time in B&N too but I never purchased one of those books. I am stil reading that book I put on your other thread "Test Sucess for beginning nurses". Once I am finished with that one I will go get some more. I am also taking 2 classes in the fall, nothing nursing related, so I dont know how those will go. I will have to wait and see.

The "Made Incerdibly Easy" books are published by Lippincott williams and Wilkins. They are not deatiled, but I find them a great refresher. All the stuff I learned in class comes rushing back when I start reading them. I feel like I jus took A&P last week instead of three years ago.

I got some of them at Major's bookstore in Dallas and a few online at half.com and the other discount book sites. I like them used since they are just for reference and I will have to buy texts for classes anyway.

I am going to check out the book you recommended ASAP.

As soon as I get that list of drug I will send them to you.

If anyone else who posts here gets a similar list or stuff us overacheivers can do 'til January please post it.

Don't say relax. I'm too excited to relax!

This is another "Common Prescribed Drug" Post on the web. Im trying to find more websites with really useful info. Have you been working on your abbreviations also? If not there is a post on here with websites I put on last week with alot of abbreviations. I am making a 3-ring binder with all this info.

Hi Nathalie!

I am hoping to start in the Spring also. I will be sending in my app as soon as my Chemistry grade posts... In the fall I am finishing history and government and taking Pathophysiology.

Good luck to you!

:)

Hi Nathalie,

Sorry I didn't answer yesterday. My internet connection crashed and I could not get back online.

Thanks for those drug websites. I have been working on the abbreviations too. That folder sounds like a great idea.

There is so much to learn and I am so excited.

By the way, I told my cousin down in Lauderdale all about Barry U. and the great financial aid package they have. She did not think she would ever be able to afford nursing school, but she is going to check them out. Thanks for the info about Barry.

That is no problem. Tell your friend the Barry is an excellent Nursing School. Your friend should really apply. Good Luck

I am hoping to get in Spring 06' but won't get notification until about October. In the meantime, I'm taking Pathophysiology and my humanities: Medical Bio-ethics (should be an interesting class).

Right now I'm busy with my family and enjoying the light schedule. I'll be volunteering at the hospital (that I hope to do my clinicals) and reading for fun...nothing related to nursing. My advisor told me to have a life and don't burn out before even getting to nursing school. I think that was sage advice.
