Well, I start my CNA classes this evening!! I'm so excited. I'm doing a 6 week course in the evenings, and a few weekends, that cost $500. I'm planning on using it as a stepping stone in nursing, but who knows...I may love it and decide to stay an assistant. I AM worried that at 32 years old I'll be the oldest person in my class I have been a stay-at-home military wife/mom for many years now, so this is my first time doing anything other than volunteer work in a very long time. I feel like I'm starting Kindergarten or something! Anyway, I just thought that I would introduce myself. I'm sure you'll see me on here often.

congrats on starting. Don't worry about the age I am 46 and the only male in my class and now that the oldest has dropped out I am the oldest so it is nothing to worry about. Good luck in you nursing career wherever it may lead.
bakpakr....I was reading your posts earlier. Congrats on getting started. It's nice to know I'm not the only person over 20 starting this career. And the only man huh? That's crazy......
Good luck back to you.....

I had my first day of class today. I am 27 years old and I would say I was right in the middle of the age in my class. There were some kids straight out of high school, a couple of college kids, and then several moms who were finally doing what "they wanted to do" after raising their kids and sending them off to college.
Either way, it doesn't matter. It takes guts to start on a new adventure no matter what age you are and you are going to do great. Congratulations!

Congrats on starting class! Don't worry, you definitely won't be the oldest in the class, I'm sure of it. There were a lot of age differences in my class. Good luck. :)

I start a 6 wk CNA course tomorrow night! I'm 26 so from what you all have said I'll most likely be in the middle as far as age goes. I plan on continuing on to LPN but I want to become a CNA first so I can see if the nursing field will be good fit for me. I've been a stay at home mom for the last year. My son just turned 1 last week. I hope he does all right with dad all evening! I'm a little nervous but also excited.
Katie, I'm planning on continuing my education after this, and am filling out applications for LPN classes already! I too was thinking that it would help me decide whether nursing was really for me.
My first class went great. I was by far not the oldest. There are 15 people in my class, and most of them were my age or older. I felt instantly comfortable, which was good because I'm a stresser and a worrier! I can't wait for class tomorrow night.........and I have 4 chapters to read and do summary pages on before 6 pm tomorrow night!!! Fun, eh???
