We had our site meeting yesterday , one of the comments made by nurse was she felt that since I have been there that she has more work ,before there was one provider and 2 nurses. She is unhappy about doing rapid strep tests since the other provider never orders them if the pharynx is red he orders abx ,she feels it is too traumatic to do a strep and unhappy because I request A ua on a pt with dysuria , feels she is overwhelmed huh. The other provider was told to stay out of my charts as he was not my supervising md at that point he threatened to resigin , let's see what happen

I thought smart docs quit throwing ABX on every red throat years ago.
This same md stopped my order for abx for a confirmed om because the child would puke after taking the medicine, put the child on axid for 5 days. Child comes back for 2 week f/u still has om and the mom comments well he changed the abx after I talked to him on the phone

Nurse feels overworked? Wow!
Sounds like the MD and nurse have NP envy!
How long have these two been together? That may have something to do with it.
Hang in there.
She has been there a year she is used to working in nursing homes doing admin. I never considered the envy part

We had an intensivist quit when the new medical director demanded that everyone in the PICU address each other by first name! Cya!

Fussing about rapid strep tests? Oh my. Wait until insurance companies STOP reimbursement because you failed to do one, ha!
I tried explaining that to her and she said well just write the dx as tonsillitis then you don't need to do a strep test, you treat it the same. She does not get it

First of all it's not the nurses business to "get" what you are prescribing unless she is pointing out an error or bad drug combo or something of that line. And it's not her business to argue with your diagnosis or what tests you order or what drugs you prescribe, would she do that to her MD? And how many MD's would tolerate it. I think you are letting yourself be pushed around here...how long have you been working at this facility?
I just noticed that it's been more than a month since you posted on here, very curious about what happened!

Complaining about getting a ua and a rapid strep test! Are you kidding me! She better stop complaining she could be working on a hospital unit with five patients with 20 medications and three pages worth of orders! She does not know how good she has it!

Oh wow peds, I am sorry. that nure has a real chip on her shoulder and the practice manager needs to just tell her to do her job or go on her way. Seriously. Questioning you or trying to tell you how to practice is unacceptable. If she were trying to help you, or the patient in some way, that would be different. See, this is exactly why I am being so picky about taking a job. I feel so bad for you, it sounds like such an unhappy situation. I hope things look up soon.
