I have submitted an application for the Spring start. Has anyone else submitted one? Is there anyone currently in the program that could provide feedback on it? My first bachelor's degree is in engineering and overall it is not that high, 3.23. My pre-reqs GPA that they look at is 4.0. I'm hoping that they will look at my pre-reqs GPA and give me a chance!

I applied as well. I hear that they really do look at the whole person and not just grades. I'm planning on volunteering as much as I can before the interview date and look up possible interview questions dealing with ethical concerns. That's awesome that you have degree in engineering! Mine is in music education. I'm interested in the time frame for when we are getting our interview dates. It seems like we'll get an invitation about a week after the deadline closes and interview sometime in the week of October 14-18 (hopefully, anyhow!)

I went to an informational session and they look at two things. First, your overall GPA for everything to date and then your GPA for a few of the pre-reqs (not all pre-reqs, first attempts only). It seemed like this is because they understand that some people who may have gotten their first Bachelor's a long time ago may be more focused now. The committee picks the people for interviews (about 50) based only on those two criteria. Then two faculty members do the interview and they supposedly know nothing about you when you come to the interview. Each person gets the same 5 or 6 questions. The interviews I believe are going to be October 23 and 24. The final decisions will be made on the 25th and they are only picking 20 people. I really hope I get in! Good luck!

Hey. I recently graduated from this program. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Good luck!

Thank you so much for commenting! Since you offered, I do have a few questions. How did you like the program? Is it as demanding as it seems? I've heard that in nursing school they don't teach you how to take blood or do IV's, is this true? Did you take the nursing exam yet and if so, did you feel prepared? What was your overall GPA and pre-req GPA when you applied? What was your first bachelor's in? Are the interview questions hard? Any other information or advice you think would be important, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!
Hey! Of course, I was searching something else USF related and came across this. I really loved the program and believe we had some great opportunities and clinical rotations. It was very demanding, the summer was CRAZY, but I did work here and there and made it through. Be prepared to be stressed all the time LOL. We learned how to do IVs although the lab training was minimal, same with blood draws. I did get to do both while in clinical in the ER. (I'm still not confident in either tho). I took the NCLEX a month after and passed the first time. You will do ATI at USF which will help you prepare even though its torture doing it. I did feel prepared (Uworld is amazing as well to prep). My first bachelors was in Marine Science so I have no background in healthcare. My pre req gpa was around 3.8 and overall was 3.6. As for the interview, be able to explain why you want to be a nurse, look up ethical questions (ex. what would you do if you saw another nurse mark off she brushed a patients teeth, but didn't), how do you handle stress and how will you handle this program. Everyone in the interviews was very nice. If you get an interview, just show that you are passionate and have a support system to help get you through the program.

Hey guys! I just applied too! I am a current USF student and hope they give me an interview so they can get to know more more as a person than just the my GPA. I was super involved on campus the past two years and did an internship this summer that was in partnership with the CDC and Johns Hopkins so hopefully they can see that I am a competitive applicant ?

How many of the five questions were the situational based questions? Also do you mind trying to recall what they were? And, finally please offer any advice on how you think these questions should be answered. Thanks.
@Mermaid in Scrubs Did you bring a resume with you? I thought I heard somewhere that they don't look at resumes but I was just curious if you brought one and gave it to them during your interview.
