Nov 4, 200916 yr Has anyone been accepted into the spring 2010 Nursing program at Suffolk Community College?
Nov 12, 200916 yr i applied to the spring program evenings at grant and was not accepted. i dont know what im doing wrong lol
Nov 13, 200916 yr Author I spoke with admission they said if you didn't finish microbiology they didn't even review your applications. They had so many applications that they had to expand the seats from 30 to 60 students. I know someone who had micro with a 3.7 GPA that is on a waiting list. I didn't get into the program. I'm taking micro now.
Nov 14, 200916 yr I am taking microbiology now as well. I applied for the fall 2010 so hopefully I'll have a shot!
Nov 14, 200916 yr Where do you guys all live in Suffolk County? My family lives in Holbrook. I know the area well! My sister went to SCC, and then on to Hofstra for a degree in business. Lindarn, RN, BSN, CCRNSpokane, Washington
Nov 18, 200916 yr I applied to Suffolk and I already have 80 credits towards my bs degree from much better schools and someone on the phone told me they take people who take classes at suffolk first. I did not even waste my time competing for a community college. The only reason to go there is for price to save money....I applied at the State Universities and got in and they are not so much more expensive!
Nov 18, 200916 yr Author I'm not wasting my time with a community college. I decided to go to molloy. It is more expensive, but you get your bs at the end.
Nov 20, 200916 yr Hello,I live in Mastic Beach.I applied for the Nursing program at the grant campus for Spring2010 evening program, and I got in.I am taking Micro now, which by the way is very hard, and with 6 kids it really is not easy.I spoke to my old English professor who is also the head of admissions in Ammerman campus. She said that; if you have a high GPA and don't have Micro you won't get in, but if you have a high GPA and don't have Micro but you have all the rest of the pre-reqs plus the co-reqs that are required to be taken in the program (non-nursing classes) you have a better chance of getting in. Also they look at you better if your science classes have a higher grade then lets say English. So thats what I did, now all I have left are the Nursing classes and I will be done.Good luck to you all! Keep up the good work.
Nov 25, 200916 yr Hi Everyone!!I got into the RN program in Grant for 2010! I'm so excited! If anyone else got in please write me For the mother of 6... That is FANTASTIC! Your a super mom!!! I can't wait to meet you and write me if you get a chance!I took Microbiology over the summer...I was told by a nursing person over at admissions that they didn't even look at microbiology! I thought the class was SO hard and took it after the deadline of the application. I know another person that got in without taking micro. Don't give up!!!!Looking forward to an email from anyone! :-D
