Spring 2018 MDC Nursing Program

Hi everyone! I am so excited!!! I got accepted to the nursing program!! I need help though! I applied to both the accelerated and generic full term and was accepted to both and I'm not sure which one to accept. A brief history:

I have been a veterinary technician for 20 years and I do everything: catheters, bloodwork, radiology, dentals, surgery, drug dosages...everything. I know the accelerated program is intense and will be difficult but I'm hoping my 20 years experience in the veterinary world will make it a little less difficult...? I also have my bachelors in psychology and an associate in biology. Last thing, I am fortunate enough to not have to pay rent so will be quitting Work completely once I begin the nursing program and will be able to give school 100% of my time and energy.

So my question to everyone here is which program should I apply for???!! I'm really stressing out about the decision after reading other posts about the accelerated program!! Thanks to everyone in advance!

It's really up to you and your work ethic. Do you have any kids or a husband? You say you don't have to pay rent but what about other bills? I don't pay rent either but the few bills I do have and paying for tuition does stress me out. From previous threads some say the extra semester in the generic does help. Since you do have medical background I think you will do great in whatever you decide.

2 other people on this thread asked about generic vs AO. When in doubt you can always pick the easiest just to play safe.

Lol, then why not do accelerated, its one year and you already look like your more then prepared:)

It seems like you have everything together and taken care of. I would talk to someone thats doing the program now or finish if you are still worried about the workload. Best of luck

I work 12 hours today and I already have my bls because my job requires it and this nasty flu shot that always get me sick I just got as well, and my ppd I just got my 2nd one checked yesterday

@Christine2281: Based on your circumstances it seems like you will be able to handle the AO.

@LMB79: I know it has been a while since you posted, so I'm not sure if you already made up your mind. Nevertheless, I would speak to an advisor to get a better idea of the class schedules and then compare the two options. My circumstances are similar to @Christine2281 so I didn't even bother applying to the Generic program. However, even with my support system I would have to think twice about the AO with school aged children.
