Spring Grades are in!

Published

And I'm so disappointed with my Micro grade! I only got a B(3.4) an 89% and so close to an A! I worked really hard, I guess what did me in was the darn lab practical! Well, I did a lot better in ANP II though, I got A(3.9) 96%. I'm still so disappointed about my micro grade.... :(

I guess I just need some reassurance that 3.4 is okay and place to vent.

I am so tired of people complaining about getting a B, get over it. There is nothing wrong with a B. Sure you may of worked hard but these courses are not easy. Getting straight A's wont make you a better nurse than someone who gets a C, may get you accepted first but a nurse is a nurse. Some people are more book smart than smarter in the field.

Well, I know but seeing how programs are so competitive, getting good grades is the stepping stone into actually getting INTO school. I honestly wouldn't care so much if it didn't affect my chances of getting into a Masters program. Book smart is definitely not everything, but some school would have to give you a chance to become a good nurse and you can't do that if you can't get into a school. Therefore, I feel like having good grades is what is needed as the first step. But, I understand your point of view and thanks for your comment! :)

I feel your pain....i had all A's until i landed an 88.7% in my micro class. But take heart, I still got accepted for Fall 06' RN program at the college of my first choice. They only have 30 seats and 800+ applicants, so depending on the school's requirements for acceptance you should be fine.

I was so torn and upset but soon got over it and now i am on my way to beginning the Rn program in the fall.

I know grades are extremely important in order to be accepted into a Masters program but one B is not going to completely destroy your chances. Your chances are just as good as before. Don't be so hard on yourself.....keep your head up and keep reaching for the goal. God Bless.

  800 applicants....I thought my program was tough......there are 45 seats with only 100 applicants....if you don't get in the first year then the second time is guaranteed.....WOW

I too get upset about B's because of the competative nature of the Nursing programs.:lol2:

IC3 I know exactly what you are saying. Last semester, I was 1 point away from getting an A- instead I got a B+, I was disappointed a little bit. I am applying for a scholarship, so the higher my gpa, the better my chances. I already have all the volunteering experiences.

Exactly! I would not mind Bs either if they would not torpedo my chance of admissions! The Dean of my Nursing School literally told me I have a shot for a spot this January (Spring 2007) ONLY if I complete all of my Co-reqs with straight As. That is why I am so obsessive. It's crazy. Good luck. ;)
