SPC Fall 2016

Hello! I have not seen any posts for the Fall 2016 at St. Pete College yet!

Probably because it is too early.

Anyone else applying?

Stats?

I have a 3.5 Prereq GPA, and 3.7 Cumulative GPA.

Could you explain the process after acceptance? What we need/what happens at orientation/ when the program actually starts

Sure :) So in your acceptance letter they will give you a list of things that need to be done right away. You have to submit a "letter of intent" that you want to start the program, I think that's due within like a week of getting accepted. Then, you have to do a drug test and sign up for a background check program online and it will give you a GIANT checklist of stuff you have to have done by either the first or second week of school, I can't remember. Immunizations, finger prints, CPR certification, a bunch of forms, etc. At orientation you give your preference for clinical sites, they give you a tour, and just give you general info about what's to come. I think it was like 4ish hours long. The program starts on the first day of school, so whatever day in August that is.

Perfect thank you!! Do you remember if there was a gap inbetween the orientation and the classe start date? Say the orientation is the 18th, then it's just a waiting period till August 15th which I believe is the first day of classes?

I did some digging, and perhaps they have yet to add more courses, but it looks like for evenings this is the schedule and clinical locations. Not thrilled they're so far away from me, but I can't start complaining now xD

Wow, talk about whirlwind after being accepted lol. Its like winning miss usa but minus the crown, money, and glamorous life! So I heard that we have to take a test on the first day or week?? Please say it isn't so😣

Holy cow Morton plant is really far from me...was that the only clinical site? I like 5-8...it actually allows me to homeschoose my daughter without rushing her through lessons. 1- 11 that is just painful, but itshe good practice for those 12hrs shift lol.

jsfarri, CNA- I tried to reply to your pm but the system won't let me since I'm such a new member. this info is great that you found! At least now I can get a sense of how to schedule my day, thanks for for digging lol!

I think this may be only one section of the possible PM classes

Last year people started receiving letters on June 30

Anxious! Hopefully, we will know something today.

Yeah, after orientation you don't have to do anything else until school starts except work on getting the list of vaccines and stuff done. Also, just a suggestion, but I wouldn't rely too heavily on whatever they have posted about classes quite yet. They tend to only make certain classes visible to students and change things pretty frequently. Our schedule for Level 1 was M: 3-5, T: 1-11, W: 1-11, Th: 3-6 and then optional test review 6-7, no classes friday. It always says 1-11 for clinical but that is up to whoever your instructor is so it could be different. Some groups had 2-10, some had 3-11, etc. It just depends on whatever they decide.
