Southern CT ACE Program question

Published

Hi, I applied to Southern's ACE nursing program for the 2014 cohort and hoping someone might be able to answer a question for me. My husband & I have a time share and he wants to book the trip and I am wondering if anyone that has been in this program was able to take a week off or if attendance is mandatory? I'm trying to figure out if I tell him to book trip with out me and take our daughter with him. She will be 1 year old by the time he goes. I am nervous about her going on vacation without her mommy but I don't think I will be able to go if I am accepted into the program. I tried to find something on SCSU's ACE program for a schedule and cannot find anything. The vacation falls during the 3rd week of November so I would be 3 months into the program. I appreciate any helpful input. Thanks!

I have asked for this post to be moved to nursing school thread.

You really can't take time off unless for special circumstances and unfortunately I don't know if they'd consider vacation one of those. The fall semester is a typical college semester with clinical added. I don't know if anyone in my cohort took any break longer than 3 days through the 12 months. The only break is a week in between the first summer session and fall semester, and a week for spring break, as well as a week between the end of spring semester and start of May summer session A (if I remember correctly).

I just started an accelerated program at UCONN and I can tell you that I study ALL the time. Plus every day of clinical is a big deal. The program goes so fast that, frankly, a week away could be devastating.

We do seem to have scheduled breaks, though. So maybe let them plan on going alone and once you get the program schedule, you can jump into the vacation at the last minute??? Or can you schedule it between Xmas and New Years when there will obviously be time off...
